What is Graduated Licensing?

Graduated licensing helps beginners get their initial experience under conditions that involve lower risk before they advance to more complex driving situations. There are three stages in the Graduated Licensing Program: 1) a supervised learner's period of 12 months—this can be reduced to 9 months by passing our ICBC approved driver education course; 2) a new driver period of 2 years that permits unsupervised driving in less risky situations; 3) a full privilege license.
